Another honor crime in Jordan

A Jordanian father stabbed his teenage daughter to death in the latest crime of honor in Jordan, security sources said Monday.

The source said the crime occurred Sunday in the region of Marka, east of Amman, where a father stabbed his daughter 30 times before turning himself in to police.

Forensic experts who examined the girl's body said they found traces of physical torture, but there was no information on the specific motives of the crime.

The incident was the ninth crime committed in Jordan this year under the pretext of defending honor.

Dozens of honor crimes are committed annually in Jordan, where sexual relations out of wedlock are banned by law and Muslim religious rules.
