Apollo turning 200 in 2016
Apollo Borough will be turning 200 years old in 2016 and an entire year of festivities is planned, including a festival from July 1-10.
For those who used to live in Apollo, it is never too early to start planning a trip back home for such a historic event. We are trying to get the word out to everyone with a connection to our town.
The Apollo Bicentennial Celebration Committee meets the first Wednesday of each month at the Lutheran Church on North Third Street. We need volunteers and sponsors. Merchants, churches, organizations and individuals looking to help are asked to attend a meeting.
We’ll be providing event information at parades, festivals and similar public gatherings around the Kiski Valley beginning this spring.
To learn about Apollo bicentennial events and our borough’s proud history or to view current photos and more, visit our official website, Apollo200.org. Pass along this website address to your friends and family. Anyone who calls Apollo home — whether he lives here or has moved elsewhere in the U.S. or world — will find our website of great interest.
Also at Apollo200.org is a link to the celebration’s Facebook page. Our Facebook page is an ideal place to reconnect with friends, schoolmates and neighbors from your past.
