Archie Comic Publications Inc. filed a lawsuit in New York Monday charging the teen rock group, The Veronicas, with violating its trademark.

The suit names identical twins Lisa Marie and Jessica Louise Origliasso as well as Warner Music Group Corp., Warner Bros. Records, Reprise Records and Sire Records Group, Archie Publications said in a news release.

Archie Publications said it tried without success to reach an agreement with the band, leaving it with "no other alternative but to file legal action" in the case.

The Origliasso twins, of Brisbane, Australia, signed a $2 million contract with Warner Bros. and were due to release their first single, "4Ever" in the United States Saturday and their debut album, "The Secret Life" in October.

They have been repeatedly quoted in the Australian media saying they named their band for their favorite character from the "Archie" comic book series.
