Area gas prices near $3

The region's average gasoline price continues moving toward the $3 a gallon milestone, this week jumping 6 cents per gallon, according to a AAA East Central survey issued Tuesday

The average price for a gallon of regular gasoline from a self-service pump was $2.955, compared to $2.895 one week ago, and $2.902 one year ago.

Across the region, 12 reporting stations were under the $2.955 mark, while 10 were over the weekly average, according to AAA's weekly Fuel Gauge.

The lowest price for gasoline this week was found in Uniontown, Fayette County, at $2.899 a gallon, while the most expensive gasoline was found in Erie, at $2.994 a gallon.
