Two men from Allegheny and Washington counties were killed today when their home-built plane crashed as it was landing at the Experimental Aircraft Association’s annual convention in Wisconsin. They were identified as Roger Bock, 62, of Carnegie, and John F. Linden, 56, of Washington, EAA spokesman Dick Knapinski said. Bock was the pilot and owner of the plane, which was registered with the Federal Aviation Administration in 2005, Knapinski said. The Lancair Legacy plane crashed at about 9:35 a.m. while attempting to land at Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh, about 75 miles north of Milwaukee, where the Experimental Aircraft Association is holding its 56th annual convention. Knapinski said the plane crashed just short of the airport’s east-west runway. He said both men were pronounced dead at the scene by the Winnebago County Coroner. “We’re in the midst of our annual convention, which started Monday and concludes Sunday,” Knapinski said. “We had 560,000 people for our weeklong convention last year. Most of them are members, but you don’t have to be a member to attend.”
