Your favorite gentleman will feel like a king when you make him his own personal holder for his remote control and TV guide. This easy-to-make armchair holder will give him easy access to his remote every time he sits in his favorite chair without having to search the room.

The holder is cut extra long so one end can be tucked under the seat of the chair.

Choose a fabric for the back of the holder that has a nap without a shiny surface to prevent sliding. I choose a flannel fabric but pre-washed wool is also a good choice.

The back and front fabric is cut 10 inches by 42 inches. The two pockets are cut 14 inches by 10 inches. One yard of binding is needed for the pockets and three yards of binding is needed for the edges of the holder. One piece for medium weight iron-on interfacing cut 9 inches by 41 inches is needed for the back panel.

Center and iron the interfacing to the wrong side of the back panel. Place the front and back panel together with the wrong sides facing. Pin and baste the two panels together. Fold the pockets in half with wrong sides together. Each pocket is 10 inches by 7 inches. Place binding onto the top of each pocket to enclose the raw edges. Place binding along the bottom of the inside pocket to reinforce the fold since the inside pocket will be stitched to the top layer of fabric.

Pin the first pocket to the front layer of fabric at one end of the fabric and machine baste in place 1/4 inch from the outside edge. Mark the center of the pocket with an air erasable pin and top-stitch 1/8 inch from the center line on both sides. Stitch the seam line at the top center of the pocket twice.

Measure 9 inches from the top of the first pocket and pin the top of the second pocket in place. The top of the pockets will face each other. Baste the sides of the pocket in place. Pin and stitch the bottom of the pocket to the fabric. Measure and mark 2 inches from one side and stitch to form a pocket for a pen or pencil.

Measure and mark 41/2 inches between the two pockets and top-stitch 1/8 inch from the center of the line on both sides.

Measure and mark 9 inches below the bottom of the inside pocket and top-stitch 1/8 inch from the center of the line on both sides.

A 1/2-inch seam allowance has been included around the panel for the binding. Sew the binding around the holder and place a crossword book, TV Guide, pen and the remote in the holder.
