Baseball

Players needed

• Pitchers and a catcher are needed for the Ford City men's baseball team, which competes in the Indiana County League, a wooden bat league. Men ages 18 to 30 who are interested need to call coach Jerry Grafton at 724-859-3117.

Freeport Future

• Teams are being accepted for the Freeport Future International Baseball Invitational, which will be July 24-26 at Freeport Community Park and Lampus Fields in Springdale for Minors (ages 9-10) and Majors (11-12). Golf

Buffalo Township V.F.C.

• The Buffalo Township V.F.C. will host its eighth annual golf outing at 1 p.m. Aug. 31 at Buffalo Golf Course. There will be a shotgun start, and it is a four-man scramble. Cost: $65. For more information, call Kristen Hawk at 724-352-2196 or e-mail ronhawk@zoominternet.net.

Football

Camp

• The fourth annual Future Wolves Football Camp will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m. July 9-10 at West Shamokin football field. The camp is open to students in grades 3-9. Cost : $15, and checks should be made out to the West Shamokin Quarterback Club. Registration begins at 5:30 p.m. July 9. The camp will be instructed by current and former West Shamokin players and the Wolves coaching staff.

Registration

• The Armstrong Indians youth football organization will hold registration for the 2008 season for boys ages 7-13 and girls ages 9-12 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at the West Kittanning football field. Cost: $75 up front for flag football and $100 up front for football. Both fees include a $60 fundraiser that reimburses participants as they sell their tickets.

Golf scrambles

• Ford City's football team will have a four-man golf scramble at 9 a.m. (shotgun start) on July 19 at Lenape Heights. Cost : $75 per person ($300 per team). The cost includes green fee, cart, hot dog and drink at the turn, dinner and beverages, prizes and giveaways. Ford City Heritage Days

5K Run/Walk

• The 20th annual Ford City Heritage Days 5K Run/Walk will be at 9 a.m. Saturday. Race forms are available at www.fordcityborough.com, www.fordcityheritagedays.com and at all Klingensmith Drug Stores, S&T Bank and Armstrong County Building and Loan. High school sports

Physicals

• Physicals for any Kittanning High School or Middle School students who plan to play a sport during the 2008-09 school year will be at 8 a.m. for boys and 9:15 a.m. for girls July 25 at Kittanning High School. Cost : $10, and checks should be made payable to Dr. Hepner. The physical form, which is available in the high school office, must be completed and signed by a parent or guardian.

Basketball

Camps

• There will be a "Basketball in the 'Burg Camp" from 9 a.m. to noon July 14-18 at Leechburg Senior High School. The camp is for boys and girls who just finished grades 1-7. There will be jerseys, prizes and awards for participants. Cost : $40 per child and $20 for additional family members.
