Christmas baseball clinic

• The Satchel Paige All-Stars traveling baseball team is accepting registration for players ages 13 to 18 who would like to participate in the team's Christmas baseball clinic and tournament in Bradenton, Fla., and/or be part of the 2009 summer travel team. The Christmas clinic and tournament will be held from Dec. 26 to Jan. 2 in Bradenton, the spring training home of the Pittsburgh Pirates. If interested, contact coach Michael E. • The Duquesne University Baseball Clinic will be Oct. 18 at Duquesne Field. During the clnic, players from the ages of 15 to 18 will receive instructions and evaluations from coaches around the tri-state area. The pitchers and catchers session will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and the postion players session will last from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The cost for pitchers is $75, the cost for postion players is $100, and multiple positions is $165. Elementary girls league

• The Lenape Girls Elemetary Basketball Lerague is holding sign ups on Oct. 18 and Oct. 25 at the Ford City High School gymnasium between 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The league is for girls in grades 4-6. Bowlers wanted

Ford City boosters

• The Ford City Football Boosters will hold a meeting on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in the cafeteria at Ford City High School. All parents of players are urged to attend. The Senior Night and banquet committees will have a meeting immediately after. Nominations for officers for the 2009 season will also be addressed at the meeting. The boosters are urging everyone attending Friday night's game against Shady Side Academy to wear purple for a "Purple Craze Night."

• The Kittanning Football Mothers' Club will hold a meeting at 6 p.m. today at the Kittanning High School cafeteria.

Ford City powder-puff football

• Ford City High School will hold its Powder-puff football game, beginning at 7 p.m. Thursday. The game will feature juniors versus the seniors at the high school stadium. Admission is $3.
