Cheerleading
Ford City clinic
• Ford City High School's cheerleaders will have a clinic for girls in the first-sixth grade from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the high school. Registration forms will be handed out at the high school, or they can be filled out the morning of the clinic at 9:30. The girls will learn cheers at the clinic and perform with the varsity cheerleaders at the Sept. 18 varsity football game. Cost: $10. Contact: Pam Gladysiewski at 724-525-2225.
Kittanning Clinic
• Kittanning High School's cheerleaders will have a clinic for girls in kindergarten-sixth grade from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the high school. Kittanning baseball outing
• The Kittanning baseball team will have a day-night, 18-hole golf scramble at 4 p.m. Sept. 19 at Cabin Greens Golf Course. Nine holes will be played during the day and nine at night. Running
Crooked Creek Triathlon
• The Crooked Creek Triathlon will be 6:30 a.m. Sept. 19 at Crooked Creek Park in Ford City. There will be three events broken into sprint and intermediate levels -- a 750/1,500-meter swim, a 17.5/37K bike race and a 5/10K run. The competition is broken down by gender and age groups. Trail for a Cure
• The Grandview Gargoyles team of the Highlands Relay For Life will have the Trail for a Cure 5K race/walk/bike ride at 8 a.m. Sept. 26 at the Butler-Freeport Community Trail. Cost: $6 pre-registration, $8 day of the event. Children ages 14-and-under are free. Strollers and wheelchair participants welcome. Event benefits the American Cancer Society.
