A suspect has been arrested in the shooting of a 22-year-old Duquesne man, who was hospitalized in critical condition on Friday evening.
Allen Parker III was shot four times and was struck once in the chest, twice in the mid-torso and once in the elbow while in the 100 block of N. Third Street around 5:15 p.m., Duquesne police Chief Richard Adams said.
He was transported by McKeesport Ambulance Rescue Service to UPMC Mercy with life-threatening injuries.
Adams said he talked to a relative of the victim later that night, who said he was put into a medically induced coma. No additional information was available on Parker's condition at presstime.
Later Friday night, a warrant was obtained for Christopher “Smacks” Westbrooks, 21, who was arrested by Allegheny County Police, county sheriff's deputies and McKeesport police officers, according to a county police advisory.
Westbrooks was found in the basement of a residence along Penny Street in McKeesport, hiding under garbage bags, the advisory indicated.
Westbrooks is charged with criminal attempt homicide, aggravated assault, weapons violations and recklessly endangering another person.
Resident Victoria Smith was home along N. Third Street, about a block away from the incident, when she heard gunfire.
“We (were) just in the house and heard about five shots,” Smith said. “I didn't see anything.”
Smith said she's concerned for residents' safety, noting the shooting happened in broad daylight.
“We've been here three years and never had incidents on this side of the street,” Smith said. “Everybody on this street works.”
