ArthroCare Corp. of Sunnyvale, Calif., Monday acquired Opus Medical of San Juan Capistrano, Calif., for $90 million in cash and stock.

ArthroCare, a medical device company that develops invasive surgical products, said it acquired Opus Medical, which makes soft tissue orthopedic repair systems, for $30 million in cash and $60 million of ArthroCare stock.

Opus is on track to have $16 million to $17 million in revenue in the fourth quarter from its first commercial product, the AutoCuff Anchoring System, ArthroCare said.

The AutoCuff System is designed to enable surgeons to easily perform total arthroscopic rotator cuff surgery.
