Baldwin Borough police Chief Chris Kelly said the coroner's office is considering asthma as the possible reason for the mysterious death of a Whitehall man whose body was found in a car last month.
Eric Timlin, 24, was found dead early Jan. 7 in a vehicle that his friend, Bryan D. Driscoll, was driving in Baldwin Borough.
Timlin's blood alcohol level was 0.28 percent, nearly three times the legal limit, Kelly said.
Authorities have ruled out illegal drugs as the cause of death, and Timlin suffered no injuries consistent with a collision.
Driscoll had a blood alcohol level of 0.1 percent, six hours after the accident, Kelly said.
'We're still waiting for the coroner's final determination,' Kelly said of Timlin's death. 'The coroner's office is looking at asthma as the possible cause of death.'
A spokesman for the Allegheny County Coroner's Office said this week that final toxicology results are pending.
Authorities found Timlin's body on top of an assault rifle, on the passenger seat next to Driscoll, in a vehicle suspected of fleeing from a one-vehicle crash.
The accident occurred shortly before 5 a.m. along Streets Run Road near Brentwood Road in Baldwin.
Driscoll, 20, of Oakleaf Drive, Whitehall, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and leaving the scene of an accident. A preliminary hearing was set for 1 p.m. Feb. 27 before District Justice John Bova of Baldwin.
