Hours after cheering on astronaut daughter Eileen Collins in her home town of Elmira, N.Y., James Collins, 79, was hit by a car and died, a report said.

No charges will be brought against the driver in the Monday accident in which the Rochester, N.Y., man was killed as he crossed a street, police said.

Just hours earlier, Collins had cheered his daughter's accomplishments as an astronaut as she visited two Elmira high schools.

"I'm in awe of her," the father told the Elmira (N.Y.) Star-Gazette. "I really am."
