AT&T Broadband customers without service

The Tribune-Review
| Monday, May 14, 2012 4:00 a.m.
An undetermined number of AT&T Broadband customers in the greater Greensburg area were without cable television, phone and Internet services for a short time Sunday evening. Service interruptions were reported in Greensburg beginning around 9:45 p.m., said spokesman Dan Garfinkel. The cause was attributed to a commercial power failure that resulted in temporary failure of backup generators. Garfinkel said it was unknown last night what caused the commercial power failure, or where it originated. The number of customers affected also was unknown. A recorded message on the company's automated answering service indicated the affected areas included Greensburg, Adamsburg, Arona, East Huntingdon Township, Derry, Export, Herminie, Hempfield Township, Hunker, Irwin, Jeannette, Madison, Manor, Mt. Pleasant, New Alexandria, New Stanton, North Huntingdon, Penn, Ruffsdale, South Greensburg, South Huntingdon Township, Youngwood and Yukon. Garfinkel said two-thirds of customers who experienced outages were back in service by 11 p.m.
