School officials in Perth, Australia, have had it with denim and plan to ban secondary school students from wearing to it school next year.

The education minister told The Sunday Times smartening up the dress code will improve students' perceptions of themselves and the public's perception of schools in general.

Some parents voiced opposition to the plan, which also includes school uniforms, asking whether officials plan to begin dictating hairstyles and jewelry as well.

The Times said the denim ban would be enforced by school principals, who could ban non-compliant students from field trips -- but not from attending class.
