A British boy with a rare form of autism known as Asperger's syndrome has won a place on the BBC1 television show "Junior Mastermind."

Andrew Cowan, 11, will appear on the broadcast, which begins May 16, as a specialist in the "Star Wars" trilogy, the Sun reported Wednesday.

Although he struggles with social interactions and loud noises, his genius emerged as a 4-year-old when he amazed his parents by answering a "Star Wars" quiz in the newspaper and getting 95 percent of the answers right.

"I wanted to show that people like me can live a normal life and also that we're not what people think," the boy said. "Asperger's syndrome is not a life sentence. It's a blessing, not a curse."
