Tonight and Saturday, owls from the National Aviary will make guest appearances at the new Pittsburgh Mills mall to celebrate the release of the new Harry Potter book.

From 7 to 8 p.m., three owls from the North Side institution will greet shoppers just outside the Borders store at the Galleria at the new Frazer megamall. The owls also will visit Munchkin’s Bookshelf — 10610 Perry Highway, McCandless — from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday.

The three celebrity owls are Barkley, an Eastern Screech Owl; Shakespeare, a Barred Owl; and X, a Eurasian Eagle Owl — the same kind owned by the evil Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter series. Aviary staff will be available to answer questions about the birds.

J.K. Rowling’s new book, “Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince,” will go on sale at 12:01 a.m. Saturday at many bookstores.
