Band parents irate with board
Disband the bandâ¢ Now we are really bored with the board.
Oh please, Avonworth School Board, try to get it together. We have read about fights with the board, Sunshine Law discrepancies, revolving door membership, a chronic ‘Mr. No’ and now what seems to be a member who votes without knowing all the facts.
It is all quite embarrassing for us whom you represent and, we hope, for yourselves.
Betsy Radcliffe voted against contracts for band assistants Monday because she questioned band enrollment dwindling. Questioned it howâ¢ Just assumed it wasâ¢
The facts showed, however, at present that’s not the case. Two days later, she decided band enrollment is stable, waves her magic wand and everything is OK, for now.
She is going to keep her eye on our band program. What a relief to know. That was a close call for the kids in the band, our daughter being one of them.
We have been appalled in the past by the public bickering of the board since the ‘new group’ took over. We are now just angered.
What kind of school would not offer band to its studentsâ¢ What kind of board would take band away from the students who love itâ¢
The solution is recruitment not disbandment.
Is money truly the issueâ¢ Add up all of my money you have spent since taking over, compare it to $11,000.
Is money really the issue, or will we find your true agenda some Thursday when reading the morning paperâ¢
