The cast on Barbaro's shattered hind leg was replaced for the second time -- six weeks after the Kentucky Derby winner sustained a life-threatening injury at the Preakness.

"Barbaro is back in his stall and is doing well," said surgeon Dean Richardson, who replaced the cast he had put on Barbaro on June 13. Two bent screws were replaced and three new ones were added across the horse's pastern joint, Richardson said. "His radiographs look great, and he had another successful pool recovery," Richardson said in a statement Monday.
