Police in Beaver County shot a man on Wednesday who attempted to fire a gun in their direction, state police at the Beaver County barracks said.

Kevin Lamont Haskins, 24, of Beaver Falls faces charges of attempted homicide, aggravated assault, burglary, attempted robbery, reckless endangerment, simple assault, and a firearms violation in connection with an incident that occurred at a residence on 4th Avenue in Beaver Falls.

According to state police, Haskins showed up at the residence about 3:24 p.m. looking for Marquise Glass, whom Haskins accused of having a firearm that belonged to him.

Jasmine Moultrie, who lives at the residence, told police she heard a knock on the door, which immediately opened, and Haskins came inside looking for Glass. Another witness, Cheyenne Ambrose, told police that a man she knows as “Kevin” entered the residence and pointed a gun at Glass. Ambrose then assisted Moultrie with gathering her children to flee, police said.

Glass, who was in the kitchen, told police that Haskins pointed a gun at him and threatened to kill him. When police arrived, Haskins ignored their verbal commands to drop his gun, and he attempted to fire his weapon at the officers, but the gun malfunctioned. Police fired and hit him.

Police said Haskins did not possess a valid license to carry a concealed weapon.

He was flown to an area hospital for treatment, police said. Police did not disclose his condition.
