COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Columbus Blue Jackets on Thursday chopped an average of 8 percent off every season ticket, reaching out to fans disenchanted by the NHL lockout.
Blue Jackets season tickets will be as low as $13, the lowest since the team began play in 2000.
Non-premium lower bowl tickets will drop from $66 to $64, and about 7,000 _ or 46 percent _ of all season ticket seat locations will be $32 or less.
The most expensive club terrace seats will go from $136 to $132.
"The past year has presented many challenges to our business, but it was very important for us to lower prices for our season ticket holders. They are our number one priority," President and General Manager Doug MacLean said in a statement.
Prices for individual games won't be announced until mid-August. The club expects some price reduction for single-game tickets but did not say how much.
However, the club did announce a special single-ticket program for each home game. The team said it will hold back about 250 single-game tickets at the Nationwide Arena box office for just $10.
"It's something we hope appeals to families," spokesman Todd Sharrock said.
NHL players on Thursday overwhelmingly approved a labor deal with the league, virtually ending the lockout that canceled last season.
