Bank of New York Mellon Corp. said it will help give away more than 10,000 new winter coats to needy children in New York, Boston, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia and Newark.

The bank is providing $155,000 toward the coats, which include 750 destined for children from pre-school to sixth grade in Western Pennsylvania.

The bank joined forces with Operation Warm Inc., a nonprofit that has supplied more than 775,000 children with coats.
