Bank of America has acknowledged it lost computer tapes containing account information on 1.2 million federal employee credit cards. Among those credit cards are those of General Services Administration cardholders and U.S. senators, potentially exposing them to theft or hacking, CNN reported Saturday. A large percentage of the accounts are for the Pentagon, in addition to 40 federal agencies and other entities, Time.com said. “We deeply regret this unfortunate incident,” Barbara Desoer, who is in charge of technology, service and fulfillment for the bank, said. “The privacy of customer information receives the highest priority at Bank of America, and we take our responsibilities for safeguarding it very seriously.” © Copyright 2005 by United Press International
