Bolivian President Evo Morales has decided to cut his own paycheck in half, La Razon newspaper reported Friday.

The newly elected Morales will now have a monthly salary of about $1,800.

All other elected officials' salaries will be reviewed as well and subject to paycuts.

The former coca farmer and indigenous rights activist was inaugurated earlier this month and campaigned on a promise to cut his salary in half saying the additional funds will go toward education and healthcare.
