I found out when my husband was tragically killed a month ago what a wonderful, caring place this Valley is. This community has concentrated on celebrating the life that was cut short. I was even impressed on how the Valley News Dispatch did not sensationalize the event. The outpouring from Dan's co-workers as well as Highlands School District and the neighborhood has been so overwhelming that simple thank yous will never suffice. Hearing from people who didn't even know us — offering help and prayers. People writing to me from Dan's past, offering stories of remembrance. This is a wonderful place to live and raise a family. Please appreciate it. Embrace your family, tell them you love them every day and have no regrets. This community, including the paper, has made sure that we know how important Dan's life was and it is a comfort. Send someone a 'thinking of you' card today. Don't wait until it is too late.
