Scientists in Rio de Janeiro have unveiled 11 skeletons of a crocodile-like reptile that roamed Brazil 90 million years ago.

The reptile, Baurusuchus salgadoensis, is thought to be related to Pakistan's prehistoric crocodile Pabwehshi pakistanesis.

Scientists from Rio de Janeiro's Federal University said the discovery lends credence to the theory that a land bridge once linked South Asia to South America, O Globo reported Wednesday.

The Brazilian crocodile was said to measure 10 feet from head to tail and to weigh around 900 pounds.

Earlier this year Brazilian scientists discovered another ancient crocodile, the Uberabasuchus Terrificus, near the city of Sao Paulo.
