The father, of a young U.S. fugitive hiding in Brazil, was the tipster who led authorities to his son's doorstep, O Dia newspaper reported Monday online.

According to Brazilian authorities and Interpol officers, John Michael Hollywood told authorities where to find his son, Jesse James Hollywood, leading to his arrest last week.

The elder Hollywood, currently being held on a fugitive from justice warrant in California, told officials they could find Jesse James Hollywood in the beach town of Saquarema some 60 miles east of Rio de Janeiro.

The 25-year-old man has been on the run from the law since Aug. 6, 2000, accused orchestrating the killing of 15-year-old Nick Markowitz.

Hollywood's parents reportedly sent him $1,200 a month to fund his fugitive lifestyle in Brazil, where he had taken up residence with a

Brazilian girlfriend, who is currently pregnant with his child.

Hollywood was immediately deported last week and arranged on murder charges back in his hometown of Santa Barbara, Calif.
