Bring back the pride
The city of Arnold’s tag line is “City of Proud People.”
Really? If we are so proud, then why would some of us let their properties get so out of control? Why are our alleys so congested with debris, grape vines, weeds, shrubs and plain, old junk? Some of our alleys you can’t drive down without getting your car scratched.
Where is that pride, people? Your house and property are your responsibility to keep maintained. I’m not seeing it in these alleys, especially Equator, Vine and Proctor. Would it hurt any of you renters and homeowners to take ownership in these properties and clean them up? My answer is no. I work hard to keep my property clean and free of debris and unobstructed by bushes, vines and junk. It is called “curb appeal.”
I worry about the police officers who may have to run after a suspect down one of these alleys. Suspects could hide in the massive jungle in some of those places, allowing police officers to get jumped or worse. Our chief and officers do a good job, and I would hate to see any of them get hurt because of all this junk.
So to all the residents of Arnold, don’t you think it’s time to clean up your messes and bring back the “City of Proud People”?
