Britain's Defense Secretary John Reid says water scarcity brought on by climate change may spark water wars among nations in the coming decades. Reid says British armed forces must be ready to tackle this sort of violence, reports the Independent. He warned that global warming would hasten the collision as the world faces the twin problems of a rising population and shrinking world water resources. Reid listed climate change along with international terrorism, demographic changes and global energy demand among major threats facing the world. Global warming experts agreed with Reid's warning, and urged British leaders to redouble their efforts to curb carbon emissions, the report said. © Copyright 2006 by United Press International
