Buffett breaks Wrigley concert barrier

It's only fitting die-hard, long-suffering Chicago Cubs fan Jimmy Buffett became the first to hold a concert on the hallowed grounds of Wrigley Field.

Buffett and his Coral Reefer Band drew more than 87,000 fans to two sold-out shows at Chicago's North Side ballpark Sunday night and Monday afternoon, Billboard.com reported Tuesday.

The Florida resident dedicated the concerts to the victims of Hurricane Katrina and autographed a Cubs jersey that will be sold on the Internet auction site, eBay, with the proceeds going to the American Red Cross.

Buffett told the crowds it took seven years to turn his Wrigley concert dream into a reality.

"We got Jimmy Buffett into Wrigley Field," he told Monday's audience. "We sure as hell can rebuild New Orleans!"
