Ghinassi promoted at Western Psychiatric Dr. Frank Ghinassi has been promoted to vice president, quality and performance improvement at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic of the UPMC Presbyterian-Shadyside hospitals. Ghinassi graduated from Monessen High School in 1971. He did his undergraduate work at Indiana University of Pennsylvania and earned his master’s degree at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh. He earned a doctorate at the University of Akron in Akron, Ohio. He completed his pre-doctoral internship and post-doctoral fellowship at McLean Hospital/Harvard Medical School. He then accepted a staff/faculty position at McLean Hospital/Harvard Medical School, a position he served for nearly a decade. He then joined the Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic. Ghinassi is the son of Frank and Louise Ghinassi and the brother of Jeff Ghinassi, all of Monessen. He resides in Pittsburgh with his wife, Cheryl, and daughter, Rose. Bassi inducted into bankers hall of fame Melvin B. Bassi, chairman of Charleroi Federal Savings Bank, was recently inducted into the Pennsylvania Association of Community Bankers Hall of Fame at the annual PACB conference in Banff, Canada. The PACB Hall of Fame includes 71 community bankers statewide who have who have been honored for their service contributions to community banks. Bassi has been a member of the board of directors of Charleroi Federal Bank since 1958. He served as the board’s president and chairman until 2000 and presently serves as chairman of the bank. He is a senior partner in the law firm of Bassi, McCune and Vreeland with offices in Charleroi and Washington, Pa. A 1944 graduate of Charleroi High School, Bassi served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He is a graduate of Washington and Jefferson College and the University of Pittsburgh Law School. His past affiliations include: president of the Washington Bar Association, chairman of the Washington County Judicial Trial Commission, chairman of the Redevelopment Authority and Industrial Committee of Washington County, solicitor for Washington County; the Pennsylvania Society; the Mon Valley YMCA; board of directors of the Mon Valley Progress Council and Washington and Jefferson College trustees emeritus. His awards include: Mon Valley Sports Hall of Fame; Washington and Jefferson College entrepreneur of the year; Mon Valley Mind, Body and Spirit Award; Mon Valley Sports Hall of Fame and recipient of the Robert M. Murphy award from Washington and Jefferson College and enshrined in the hall of fame. The father of four and grandfather of eight, Bassi resides in Monongahela with his wife, Lillian. Martins becomes Southern States dealer Martins Flowers and Shrubs, Inc. recently became a new Southern States independent dealer Located at 5045 Route 51, Martins, is managed by George Martin. Founded in 1923, Southern States now has more than 300,000 farmer members. The Richmond, Va.-based firm provides a range of farm inputs, including fertilizer, seed, livestock feed and pet food, animal health supplies and petroleum products, as well as other items for the farm and home. Miller becomes Tastefully Simple consultant Kelly Miller of Donora recently became a consultant for Tastefully Simple, Inc., a national direct sales company based in Alexandria, Minn. As a consultant and independent business owner, Miller conducts in-home presentations and markets Tastefully Simple’s line of gourmet foods and gifts at home taste-testing parties. At the parties, guests receive samples, easy meal ideas, recipes and serving suggestions. Founded in 1995, Tastefully Simple carries a standard line of more than 30 upscale, convenience-driven foods. As of January 2005, Tastefully Simple had more than 20,000 consultants nationwide.
