A Butler County man is accused by state police of defrauding as many as eight individuals nationwide by purchasing items on the Internet and then failing to pay for them.

State police yesterday arrested and charged Justin Castilyn, 28, of Center Township, with running the scam since August.

Christopher Cook, of San Francisco, told police last month that he shipped 212 video games to Castilyn's residence. But the $1,950 money order for the items was counterfeit, police said.

Police later learned of seven other similar complaints.

They charged Castilyn with 12 counts of possessing counterfeit money orders and one count each of using a counterfeit money order, forgery, theft by deception, receiving stolen property and unlawful use of a computer.

He was placed in Butler County Jail in lieu of $75,000 bond.
