CAHS athletes perform well at Tri-State Meet

Five Connellsville athletes earned medals at the annual Tri-State Track Coaches Association Meet on Saturday at West Mifflin High School.

Rodney Richter finished first in the discus (162 feet, 11 inches) and third in the shot put (51-23/4). Mason Leos took home top honors in the high jump (6-0). Nick Zurawski placed sixth in the pole vault (13-0) and Rich Miller finished eighth in the long jump (20-4 1/2).

Brittney Malone represented the Lady Falcons with an eighth-place showing in the pole vault (8-6).

Junior High Volleyball

The Connellsville Junior High East volleyball team finished in third place at a tournament held at Franklin Regional High School on Saturday. East started by winning its bracket with victories over Shaler (25-10, 27-25), Franklin Regional (25-6, 25-12) and Butler (25-9, 27-25). The team won its quarterfinal match-up against Valley, 26-13, but lost to Norwin Blue in the semifinals, 25-20.
