A California University of Pennsylvania fraternity has been suspended as the result of a borough-wide crackdown on alcohol-related offenses by police last weekend.
Theta Xi fraternity has been put on temporary suspension by its national fraternity, according to university spokeswoman Christine Kindl.
University officials are scheduled to meet with Greek Life representatives as well as the members of the suspended fraternity. Individual discipline will be handled by the university.
“Those students who were cited will be handled through the student disciplinary process,” Kindl said.
Dozens of people were cited with alcohol-related offenses when borough officials advised police to show up in force to curb the nuisance caused by large parties throughout the community.
