The CCAC South Tigers won the WPCC baseball championships Sunday with an 18-0 victory over Penn State-Beaver. The winning pitcher was Dan Herisko , a Bethel Park graduate. Herisko pitched a three-hit complete game. Brad Russell (Mt. Lebanon) and Jeff Pingor (Steel Valley) each had three hits. Ryan Donovan (South Park), Ryan Pollack (Montour), and John Laird (Steel Valley) had two hits apiece. Football Bethel Park graduate Tim Storino has completed 35 of 79 passes for 495 yards and six touchdowns for Lock Haven (3-2). Storino transferred from Fairmont State this season and has excelled in his junior season. Fort Cherry graduate and WPIAL all-time leading rusher Mike Vernillo is the second-leading rusher for Slippery Rock with 168 yards on 44 carries. Vernillo, who transferred from West Virginia before last season, also has scored two touchdowns. Soccer Peters Township graduate Andrea Taylor recently was named the American Mideast Conference defensive Player of the Week for St. Vincent after stopping all 16 shots she faced in racking up back-to-back shutouts against Clarion and Daemen. Ringgold graduate Jen Pergola has started her college career at Washington & Jefferson on a roll. She leads the Presidents in every important offensive category. Pergola has 12 goals, five assists and 29 points on 60 shots. She also has two game-winning goals for the 5-8 Presidents. South Park graduate Adam Zeleznick is having a good season for Pitt-Greensburg (11-1). The freshman earned Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference men’s soccer player of the week honors earlier this season for scoring four goals and having two assists in two games. Baldwin graduate Mike DelGreco has started 10 games for Robert Morris (4-6-1). The junior midfielder has one assist and three shots this season. Updates The Riverhounds will be hosting a winter training program at Iceoplex at Southpointe for children ages 12 and under. The program features six, one-hour training sessions coached by Riverhound players. Sessions run from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Training programs begin Nov. 4. Registration fee is $80.
