Britain’s Norman Kember, who was rescued from his kidnappers in Iraq, says he was allowed to watch a DVD on Jesus during his captivity. Speaking to the Baptist Times, the 74-year-old Kember said: “One night, our captors took us downstairs, sat us in front of the TV, and showed us the life of Jesus on DVD in Arabic. But these are the people who shot Tom Fox in the head. People are very complex.” Kember, a member of the Christian Peacemakers Teams group, was rescued along with Canadians James Loney and Harmeet Singh Sooden last week by a multi-national military operation, Sky News reports. Tom Fox, who also was kidnapped with the three peace activists, was found shot to death in Baghdad weeks before the rescue of the three. The three were not tortured and were not tied up for most of the time, though the hostage-takers tied them before fleeing ahead of the arrival of the rescuers, the report said. Kember also was given medicine for high blood pressure and an aneurysm. Kember told the newspaper there was “no point in regretting” his decision to go to Iraq. © Copyright 2006 by United Press International
