Carnegie Mayor Jack Kobistek is upset with Allegheny County now that the 2013 assessment numbers have been released.

The numbers for the residents and the business owners in Carnegie "are not right," Kobistek said.

One elderly man who lives on Dean Avenue told Kobistek he was "confused and frustrated" about how the county was treating him, echoing complaints from neighbors in Scott, Heidelberg and Collier, the mayor said.

Under the new assessment numbers, there would be a 21.5 percent increase overall in the residential properties of Carnegie for 2013. There would be an overall commercial increase of 69.9 percent.

Many owners of those businesses chose to stay in Carnegie after the devastating flood of 2004, Kobistek said.

Property owners who wish to file formal reviews should complete the 2013 formal assessment appeal form and return it to the Allegheny County Office of Assessments by April 2.
