What is wrong at Carnegie Science Center when a 10-year volunteer and World War II veteran and his wife are told that they cannot display a small desktop American flag at their work station (" Volunteers' American flag removed from Science Center ," Nov. 23 and TribLIVE.com)?

This man has earned the right to display the flag at his work station and, really, who is "offended" by this?

It is truly sad that political correctness in this country has gone crazy to the point that "management types" have become so open-minded that their brains have fallen out!

Ron Baillie, co-director of the center, says in the story: "This is about trying to keep the public areas looking appropriate." Appropriate• What could be more appropriate than to allow a World War II veteran the right to display the American flag, for which he fought?

I, for one, will make it a point not to visit the science center until this is corrected. I also believe that people should e-mail and call the center to voice their outrage over this stupidity.
