A Carrick woman once known as the "Monroeville Madam" when she was accused of heading a multimillion-dollar prostitution and cocaine distribution ring was arrested Thursday by city vice squad detectives on new prostitution charges, Pittsburgh police spokeswoman Diane Richard said.
Amy Schifano, 35, was arrested after city vice detectives confirmed suspicions by agents of the Pennsylvania Department of Probation and Parole that she was engaged in prostitution while on parole, Richard said.
Schifano was sentenced in 2008 to serve three to six years in prison for heading the drug and prostitution ring. She denied masterminding the scheme.
Schifano was arrested last year for prostitution in Green Tree, Richard said. Court records show she pleaded guilty and was sentenced in December to two years' probation.
