Patrick Cassidy and "American Idol" contestant Amy Adams head up the latest touring company of "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat."

Cassidy plays the title role in the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical while Adams takes on the role of The Narrator, Playbill reported Tuesday.

Cassidy last appeared on Broadway opposite his mother, Shirley Jones, in "42nd Street" and previously logged time in "Aida," "Annie Get Your Gun," "Leader of the Pack" and "The Pirates of Penzance."

It marks the professional stage debut for Adams, best remembered as the pink-haired singer who belted out Celine Dion's "Power of Love" during the third season of the Fox TV talent competition.

The show was scheduled to open Tuesday night in Milwaukee and close next July in Omaha.
