The birthplace of the U.S. punk rock movement, CBGB, may be leaving the Big Apple for Sin City.
CBGB is due to be evicted from its home in New York's Bowery neighborhood within the next year, and owner Hilly Kristal told Sunday's New York Post he's in talks to move the club to Las Vegas.
One spot under consideration is Desert Passage, an entertainment strip near the Aladdin Hotel and Casino, Kristal said.
"It could be really good," Kristal said. "I'm considering it."
Another location being considered is along Vegas' East Freemont Street entertainment district, the Post said.
New York has offered CBGB a building on the city's lower east side, which Kristal said was also "a possibility." But he said about $2.6 million in renovations would be needed and "it could take years" before the club could open.
"I may have to open in Vegas and then come back and open another club in the city later," he said.
