Both ABC and CBS are doing made-for-TV movies about the late Pope John Paul II.

The CBS miniseries, "John Paul II," is already shooting in Rome and has obtained exclusive access to St. Peter's Square in the Vatican, the New York Post reported Tuesday.

Word of the competing ABC project was leaked Monday by Broadcasting & Cable and was confirmed by an ABC spokeswoman. However, that project does not yet have a title, director, cast, writers or projected airdate, the Post said.

Pope John Paul II died April 2.
