Interim CBS News anchor Bob Schieffer says he will retire in two years when he turns 70.
"I want to leave while there's still a few people in the audience applauding," Schieffer told the Philadelphia Inquirer of the role he took on when Dan Rather stepped down as anchor in March.
People inside and outside of CBS urged Schieffer to take on the anchor position permanently, but Schieffer said he wants time to do things with his wife.
CBS will have some time to look for a successor to Schieffer, who said he plans to retire when he turns 70 on Feb. 25, 2007.
