CBS to add ad links to Web sites

"CSI" is the No. 1 show on all of TV and overall, CBS is the No. 1 network with viewers between 18-49 -- and what the means is a new-fangled ad blitz. Advertisers paid at least $2.5 billion to fill nearly all of CBS's prime-time TV commercial slots, so the network has been looking for ways to bring in more ad dollars, The Washington Post reports. So, CBS parent Viacom Inc. announced a revamp of its CBS and UPN station Web sites to include sponsored advertising links. Everyone someone searches for a news item on one of the affiliate news sites, a group of related advertising links will pop up on the screen. "There really are a bunch of ideas that we're trying, seeing what pans out," CBS spokesman Dana McClintock told the Post. "We're putting lots of stuff out there and trying to refine and optimize it." © Copyright 2005 by United Press International
