The charges against Pitt linebacker Adam Gunn, who was arrested May 10 after an incident outside a Station Square nightclub, were withdrawn today.
Gunn, who turned 23 on Monday, was scheduled for a preliminary hearing this afternoon for misdemeanor charges of resisting arrest and failure to disperse and summary offenses for public drunkenness and disorderly conduct after running away from Pittsburgh police officers outside Club Zen.
Gunn's attorney, Tim Dawson, said by e-mail that his client "issued a formal apology for his conduct, and given the fact that he employed no weapons, assaulted nobody and simply attempted to flee the scene, the (Pittsburgh) Police were willing to drop all charges."
Gunn, sixth-year senior from Vandergrift, was suspended from the Pitt football team pending resolution of the case. He is now reinstated to play for the Panthers.
