Almost three-quarters of a million emergency room visits in England and Wales are related to chest pain, a study in Heart reported Monday. Close to 15 million people seek emergency care in England and Wales every year, and a study of activity in the emergency department of Northern General Hospital, Sheffield, has suggested about 700,000 of those cases are chest pain related, about 6 percent of the total workload.
