Texas-based Chief Oil & Gas LLC says it’s reached a production milestone of 100 million cubic feet per day with its Marcellus shale gas drilling operations in Appalachia.
Chief is currently leasing 600,000 acres in Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Maryland, and the company said Wednesday it’s still expanding.
Chief Operating Officer Michael Radler says 93 wells have been drilled to date.
Another 42 are in production, and 20 more are being drilled or will be drilled by year’s end.
The Marcellus shale field is vast natural gas reserve underlying West Virginia, Pennsylvania and New York, and part of Ohio.
