A new child care facility opened in East Brady, when Amanda Steiner accepted the first children in the First Class Day Care Center on April, in the library of the former East Brady High School, now the East Brady Community Center.

The former library has been remodeled to include a new bath room, new kitchen and office, with a new heating system, excellent lighting from overhead lights and large windows that lets lot of light into the room.

The Center is open 12 hours on week days and six hours on Saturday, and closed on Sunday. Licensed by the Pennsylvanin Department of Public Welfare, the Center accepts both cash pay and subsized children. Rates are based on either weekly or hourly schedules.

Having more open hours than pre-school, the Center has a curriculum, which is not quite as extensive as pre-school. In the child care program, snacks are provided, learning activities, children's games and group interaction are stressed. Applicants are accepted from six weeks to 11 years.

Hours are from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays. The Center is located in Suite 6, in the Community Building at 502 Ferry St., East Brady, Pa., 16028, where information on the Center can be obtained.

Amanda is the daughter of Denny Steiner, who operated a shop near the Center in the Building. She is assisted by Tiny Boltz and Crystal Grazier.
