A Chinese animation company was preparing Sunday to premiere a cartoon starring classical literature character Eight-Commandment Pig.

Wuhan's Jiangtong Cartoon Co. Ltd. has completed 26 episodes of a 52-segment cartoon starring Eight-Commandment Pig, and the first will premiere Wednesday in China, reported Xinhua, China's main government-run news agency. The pig is a central character of classic Chinese novel "A Pilgrimage to the West."

Zhu Youlan, chairman of the board of Wuhan's Jiangtong Cartoon Co. Ltd., producer of the cartoon, said the company had blended philosophy into the mythical story and hoped that the cartoon "would be of positive significance in educating and enlightening children."
