Chinese officials say the Fierce Dragon, a new light fighter jet, was successfully tested Friday.

The Xiaolong/FC4 was developed by the Chengdu Aircraft Group Corp., China Daily reports. A test pilot flew the plane for 16 minutes over Chengdu.

The company said the plane is suitable for the domestic market and overseas sales and includes the latest electronic equipment.

The earliest version of the plane, the FC1, was tested in 2003.
